CLC Office Closed During Annual Conference in Washington, DC

The CLC Headquarters office will be closed for the Annual Conference beginning on Tuesday, May 22, and will reopen on Wednesday, May 30. While on-site, we will have limited access to voicemail and email, and so we thank you for your patience in awaiting our response to your inquiries.

Connect Online with the Annual Conference

Even if you aren’t able to join us in Washington, DC, you can still stay up to date on the Annual Conference! CLC (@ChildLifeCouncl) is using the Twitter hash tag #CLC30th for all conference related tweets, which will be featured on the CLC Community home page through a live Twitter feed. Beginning on Wednesday, the CLC Community home page will be showcasing an slideshow with photos from the event.
 
Submit Abstracts Online for 2013 Annual Conference

If you are interested in presenting at CLC’s 31st Annual Conference in Denver, Colorado, the official 2013 Call for Abstracts is now available through the CLC website with updated information submission requirements and desirable presentation topics. CLC will begin accepting abstracts online on Friday, June 8, and the final date to submit an abstract will be July 31, 2012. For more information, please visit 2013 Call for Abstracts

Wilma Brooks Joins CLC Staff as Director of Development

We are pleased to announce that Wilma Brooks has joined the Child Life Council staff in the newly-created position of Director of Development. This position was developed in conjunction with CLC's new strategic plan, in order to identify sources of funding for a variety of ambitious initiatives outlined in the plan. In her new role, Wilma is responsible for spearheading CLC efforts to secure major grants and other funding from corporate, foundation, government and key individual donors to help underwrite new initiative-specific programs and projects. New Code of Professional Practice

The Child Life Certifying Committee recently introduced a new Code of Professional Practice, which addresses ethical dilemmas, behavior that reflects on the child life profession, and conduct that may put the general public at risk. All Certified Child Life Specialists will be required to provide confirmation of their consent to abide by the code prior to the end of 2013, and they will be asked for their continued agreement at critical points in the certification process. CLC Board of Directors Elections Results – Slate of Candidates Approved

Thank you to all voting members who participated in this year’s Board of Directors election. The slate of candidates as recommended by the Child Life Council Nominating Committee was formally approved, and we are pleased to confirm the newest members of the CLC Board of Directors: Amy Bullock, MSEd, CCLS (President-Elect); Suzanne Graca, MS, CCLS
(Secretary); and Melissa “Missi” Hicks MS, CCLS, LPC, RPT-S and Kate Shamszad, MS, CCLS (Directors). In addition, Lucy Raab, MA, CCLS, was elected Child Life Certifying Committee Second-Chair, and will be joining the Board of Directors as CLCC Senior Chair from 2014-2016. Learn More

Audrey Rothstein Joins CLC Staff as Deputy Director

The Child Life Council is extremely pleased to welcome Audrey Rothstein, CAE, as our new Deputy Director.  In her new position, Audrey will work on a wide variety of programs and activities. She will have key program responsibility for public relations, promotion and marketing. She will be the main contact for current corporate partners who exhibit or advertise with CLC, and she will cultivate partnerships with non-profit organizations that share mutual interests with CLC. Audrey will serve as chief staff liaison to various CLC committees and task forces, and she will have overall responsibility for the office and personnel administrative operations of the CLC headquarters.
