Celebrating 30 Years

In 1982, a small but dedicated group of individuals set out to form the first independent organization dedicated to the development and growth of the child life profession. This year, with a membership that has grown from 235 in 1983 to nearly 5,000 members in 2012, the Child Life Council is celebrating its 30th anniversary.

A Monumental Year, A Monumental Profession

Throughout 2012, there will be many opportunities to commemorate past accomplishments, as well as to share our vision for continued growth and achievement in the future. Just a few of these commemorative activities will include:

A new Child Life Council YouTube channel will feature regular submissions from the Child Life Council Archives, including interview clips with pioneers of the child life profession and other interesting footage.
The editorial team for the CLC Bulletin has planned a series of special 30th anniversary articles in 2012, and there will also be a dedicated 30th Anniversary Blog in CLC Community.
During Child Life Month in March, CLC’s 30th Anniversary will offer the ideal atmosphere for health care institutions and other organizations to celebrate the progress and contributions of their child life programs.
The Annual Conference on Professional Issues in Washington, DC will double as our 30th Anniversary Celebration, with a series of special observances to mark the occasion, including the premiere of a 30th Anniversary DVD.
